Our Policies

Below are our policies for appointments, medications, and other functions of our clinic. These a to ensure the well-being of our clients, patients, and staff.

New Client Deposit Policy

To reserve an appointment, all new clients of Mauer Animal Clinic must place a deposit at the time of booking. The deposit amount depends on the type of visit: $80 for a standard exam and and $40 for a vaccine-only appointment. This deposit will be applied toward your total at the time of your visit. All new clients must arrive at least 10 minutes prior to scheduled appointment time for paperwork.

We’ve implemented this policy to help reduce last-minute cancellations and no-shows, which impact our ability to provide timely care to other patients. As a busy practice, each appointment slot is valuable, and this deposit ensures that we can reserve dedicated time for your pet’s care.

No-Show Policy

If you need to change your appointment time or cancel it, you must give at least 24 hours notice so that the appointment time can be made available to another client on the waiting list. A No-show cancellation fee of $30 will be applied to your account for missed appointments or those not canceled according to the 24-hour policy. If two appointments are missed without notice, clients are then required to pre-pay the exam or charges before scheduling any future appointments.

Late Fee Policy

At Mauer Animal Clinic, we strive to provide timely and attentive care to all our patients. To ensure our schedule runs smoothly and all clients receive the attention they deserve, we have implemented the following late fee policy:

A $25 late fee will be applied if you arrive more than 10 minutes past your scheduled appointment time. This fee will be added to your invoice at the time of service.

If you anticipate being late, please call us as soon as possible. Excessive tardiness may result in the need to reschedule your appointment. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide quality care to all our patients.

Written Prescription Fee Policy

To help offset the costs associated with processing written and faxed prescriptions, Mauer Animal Clinic charges a daily fee of $5.00 for any written or faxed prescription requests. This fee supports the additional time required by our doctors and medical team, who often work beyond regular hours to review medical records and complete these requests. Due to the high number of pets we see during normal business hours, prescription processing must often be completed after hours.

To help minimize this cost for our clients, we’re happy to offer prescription refills when appropriate, consolidate multiple prescriptions into a single written request, and provide larger quantities when medically feasible. Our goal is to support your pet’s health while making prescription management as convenient and cost-effective as possible.

Surgery Deposit Policy

To reserve a surgical appointment at Mauer Animal Clinic, a $200 deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit goes toward your pet’s surgery invoice. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours notice to receive a full refund or transfer the deposit. Cancellations or no-shows with less than 48 hours notice will result in the deposit being forfeited.
